Air strikes kill 4 suspected militants in east Afghanistan

Xinhua, February 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Four suspected militants were killed and two others injured as aircrafts pounded suspected Taliban hideout in Deh Mirdad district of Afghanistan's east Wardak province on Wednesday night, some villagers said Thursday.

According to villagers, the aircrafts targeted a health clinic in Tangi Saydan area of Deh Mirdad district late Wednesday night, killing four people.

The villagers couldn't determine the identity of the victims.

However, spokesman for Wardak's provincial government, Toryali Hemat, confirmed the operation when approached by Xinhua, saying all those killed in the raid were Taliban militants.

"Afghan special forces conducted air raids in Deh Mirdad district last night, killing four rebels and injured two others," Hemat told Xinhua.

The troops also captured another militant alive, he added.

"There were no casualties on civilians," Hemat asserted. Enditem
