Ghana FA officially launches premier league season

Xinhua, February 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially launched the 2015/2016 premier league at a ceremony at its control center in Accra on Wednesday.

The 16-club league kicks off on February 20 across all centers.

Despite the numerous legal battles holding-up the start of the elite league, the GFA has assured the teeming football community that the league will begin as programmed.

Premier League Board chairman Ashford Tetteh Oku called on the league clubs to introduce strategies that would attract fans to their respective match venues.

A representative of SuperSport, the league broadcast rights holder, Kennedy Yirenkyi, also called on stakeholders to help promote the local league to become attractive.

The clubs used the occasion to unveil their home-and-away jerseys for the upcoming season.

The 2015/16 top-flight league will commence without a sponsor after Capital Bank decided to suspend its five-year sponsorship deal with the GFA. Endit
