Jordan on Tuesday called for efforts to help revitalize the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Peace talks between the two sides needs to be time-specific, serious and effective, leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with east Jerusalem as its capital, said Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh at a meeting with Tobias Ellwood, the Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East.

Jordan is directly involved in the peace talks and the final status issues and the creation of an independent Palestinian state is a top Jordanian interest, said Judeh.

On Syria issue, Jordan reiterated the call for a political solution to preserve the unity of the country and restore stability and security.

It is important to build on the achievements of the latest meetings in Geneva and the international community's resolutions towards Syria, he said.

He also reviewed pressure on Jordan due to hosing some 1.3 million Syrian refugees, calling for increased aid to the Kingdom to face burdens.
