Albanian industry sector slows down in Q3

Xinhua, February 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albania's industrial sector slowed down in the third quarter of 2015, judged by the value added it produced, the Albanian Daily News reported Monday.

Value added by the sector recorded an annual growth of 1.1 percent in the period, far lower than 9.1 percent in the second quarter, the newspaper quoted the Bank of Albania as saying.

The slowdown was mainly attributed to negative developments in the mining and quarrying, energy, water and waste treatment industries, which contributed minus 1.6 percent to the annual performance of the sector.

However, the performance of the processing industry was positive and supported the growth of the sector by 2.7 percent.

Moreover, the construction sector performance continued its upward trend for the fifth consecutive quarter, with its value added seeing a high annual increase of 16.5 percent, after a 24.8-percent hike in the second quarter. Endi
