Former Russian anti-doping head dies

Xinhua, February 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Former executive director of Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA), Nikita Kamayev, reportedly died two months after he resigned due to the country's doping crisis.

Kamayev, 50, died suddenly on Sunday after feeling ill while skiing, Russia's TASS news agency said.

According to former RUSADA general director Ramil Khabriyev on Sunday, what happened "looks like a massive heart attack", TASS reported.

Kamayev had been acting as RUSADA's executive director since 2011 and stepped down in December last year following a World Anti-Doping Agency independent report which accused Russian athletics of various doping violations. Enditem
