Barca look to end good week with win at home too Celta

Xinhua, February 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona will look to finish an excellent week for the club on the top of the BBVA Primera Liga when they entertain Celta Vigo in the Camp Nou Stadium on Sunday night.

The game once again sees Barca coach Luis Enrique face one of his former clubs while Barca fans will also be looking for revenge following the 4-1 defeat Celta inflicted on them earlier this season.

That was Barca' s heaviest defeat in the league this campaign and was the catalyst for the run which took them to the leadership.

Wednesday saw Barcelona draw 1-1 away to Valencia to qualify for their third King' s Cup final in three seasons with an 8-1 aggregate and the fact they had won the first leg by a clear 7-0 margin allowed Luis Enrique to rest his entire first choice 11.

That should mean that Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Leo Messi and company have all had the chance to rest, although Messi reported for a training session on his day off on Friday as he looks to leave a slight muscle problem behind.

Celta had a different Cup experience as they were knocked out of the competition 6-2 on aggregate by Sevilla, but the side from the North-West of Spain gave Sevilla a major fright when they went 2-0 ahead early in the second half of their game and never stopped trying even when it was obvious the cause was lost.

That may have been valiant, but the wisdom or not of running themselves into the ground on a rain-soaked pitch 24 hours after Barca cruised into the final will become apparent when the game kicks off on Sunday night and perhaps even more so in the closing minutes of each half as tiredness becomes a factor.

Celta will still be without Nolito, who Barca looked to buy in January, but have pace in attack to trouble Barca, the question is, which side will be in better shape at key moments? And everything points to the answer being 'Barca' . Endit
