Leader of Myanmar National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi made donations on Saturday to mark the 101th anniversary of her late father's birthday in Nay Pyi Taw.

Alms food and robes were offered to Buddhist novices from various townships in the capital.

"I want all young people in the country to be like my father," said Suu Kyi, whose NLD party won the general election on Nov. 8, 2015.

The anniversary birthday of Bogyoke (General) Aung San is celebrated in cities across the country.

Last year, events marking the centenarian anniversary of Bogyoke Aung San's birthday were held in his birthplace at Natmauk Township of Magway Region.
