Former French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault is nominated Thursday by French President Francois Hollande to replace Laurent Fabius as new foreign minister of France, French presidential office the Elysee announced on Thursday afternoon.

In the government reshuffle, Hollande named his former Prime Minister Ayrault as a replacement for Laurent Fabius who was nominated to be the president of the Constitutional Council.

Ecology Minister Segolene Royal replaces Fabius to be in charge of international relations on climate.

Ayrault presented in March 2014 his resignation to French President Francois Hollande after the Socialists' poor performance in local elections. He was replaced by current Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

Audrey Azoulay was named to replace Fleur Pellerin as Minister of Education and Communication. Endit
