Urban infrastructure rehabilitation project in southern Albania launched

Xinhua, February 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albanian Ministry of Urban Development and World Bank jointly launched an urban infrastructure rehabilitation project through a 55 million euros (around 66 million U.S. dollars) investment over the next five years in the southern Albanian districts of Berat, Fier, Gjirokaster and Vlora, Albanian Telegraphic Agency reported on Wednesday.

The objective of the project is to boost Albania's potential for tourism in the nature-rich south coast by upgrading urban and community infrastructure, creating extra premises for more integral ties with the local communities and businesses.

World Bank and Albanian representatives met with local representatives of the municipalities that have applied for projects in order to discuss the criteria for the selection of projects on urban infrastructure rehabilitation.

After receiving the projects, the World Bank mission has drafted a list of criteria the Bank will apply for selection of the submitted projects.

Paula Restrepo Cadavid, project manager at the World Bank mission, informed the local government representatives that only the best projects are supposed to be implemented. Enditem
