Bangladesh approves deal to send 1.5 mln workers to Malaysia in 3 yrs

The Bangladeshi government expects to send some 1.5 million workers to Malaysia in three years under a new deal.

Bangladesh's cabinet Monday approved the deal "G2G (government-to-government) Plus" to pave the way to send 1.5 million workers to Malaysia.

After the cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, spokesman Md Shafiul Alam told reporters the government hopes to send 1.5 million workers to Malaysia under this deal in the next three years.

He said Malaysia has listed Bangladesh as a source country. "Its a great achievement for us."

Under the new deal, Malaysia would recruit Bangladeshi workers in construction, service, manufacturing and agriculture sectors. Endit
