china.org.cn / chinagate.cn, February 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Beijing, the capital of China, topped the list of Chinese cities with the worst traffic in 2015, followed by Jinan and Harbin, according to the recent ranking released by Amap, a leading service provider of digital maps, navigation and location services.

The congestion delay index of Beijing reached 2.06 during the peak period in 2015, which means people who drove to work in Beijing need double the time in rush hour than when the traffic was not busy.

According to the ranking, the capital in each province featured stronger traffic problems when compared to smaller cities. In addition, the fourth quarter of 2015 witnessed the year’s worst traffic jam and 5 pm to 7 pm were found to be the worst during any given day.

It is expected that traffic will be even worse in the following few years. Beijing, Jinan and Qingdao are expected to be the cities with the highest risk of facing stronger traffic congestion.
