"The Monkey King 2" (China)

Director: Pou-Soi Cheang

Starring: actress Gong Li (Baigujing, or White Skeleton Demon), Hong Kong pop singer-actor Aaron Kwok (the Monkey King), Wolf Totem's star Feng Shaofeng (the Monkey King's Buddhist monk master Tang Seng) and Chinese-American singer-actor Christian Rand Phillips (a human king).

With the Year of the Monkey on the horizon, China is pinning its hopes on the Monkey King, the best-known monkey in the history of Chinese literature and cinema.

A project backed by the country's regulator of the movie sector plans to release the upcoming fantasy epic, The Monkey King 2, in 100 cities in 30 countries across four continents on Feb 8, the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year. The film will be subtitled into the languages of the nations in which it's shown.

The movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny", which stars Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh, held its world premiere in Beijing on Monday.

Hong Kong Director Woo Ping Yuen, along with stars the movie attended the red-carpet ceremony.

The movie, which is the sequel to the 2000 film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," tells an epic story of lost love, a legendary sword, and one last opportunity at redemption.

Woo introduced that different from the "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" which focuses more on romance, the sequel will present more on the martial arts.

The movie is set to open in China on 19th this month and will hit both US theaters and Netflix worldwide on 26th.
