At least two soldiers of the Turkish security forces were killed and three others wounded in an operation against the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey on Friday, said a military statement.

A group of PKK militants attacked the Turkish troops during the military operation in Sur town of Diyarbakir province, wounding five Turkish soldiers on the scene, but later two soldiers died in hospital, said the statement issued by the Turkish Armed forces. (Turkey-PKK)

DAMASCUS -- Over 100 Syrian soldiers and jihadist militants were killed Friday during intense battles in the northern province of Aleppo, a monitor group reported.

The soldiers and militants were killed during the Syrian military offensive for the capture of the key town Ratyan in northern countryside of Aleppo, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Clashes)

NEW YORK -- One person was killed and three others injured Friday after a crawler crane collapsed around 8:30 a.m. local time (1330GMT) in lower Manhattan, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference.

BAGHDAD -- A fire at a hotel killed 17 people on Friday in the capital of Iraq's Kurdistan region, including foreigners, the local governor said.

"The fire broke out this evening inside a hotel in Arbil that has killed 17 people and wounded 10 others," Governor Nawzad Hadi said at a press conference held in Arbil city, adding that most of the victims are foreigners. (Iraq-Fire) Endi
