Cargo trucks started entering Nepal on Friday via Birgunj-Raxaul border point between Nepal and India, the main trade of Nepal, Nepal's Department of Customs (DoC) said.

The largest trade route of Nepal resumed 135 days after Sayukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) supporters began their sit-in protests at the border on September 24 in protest against the newly adopted constitution.

About 30-36 cargo trucks entered Nepal through the border point till evening on Friday, it will take a few days to normalize the situation in the Birgunj border point, said Surya Sedai, information officer at DoC.

A convoy of freight containers entered Nepal after local entrepreneurs from Nepal and India set ablaze the tents set by Morcha protesters at the no-man's land in Miteri Bridge.

The development comes in the wake of growing demand of ending the border blockade and remarks by Morcha leaders that the particular border should be reopened.

The Nepalese government has said the blockade resulted in revenue loss of $479 million during the first half of the current fiscal year which began in mid-July 2015. Enditem
