Chinese telecom giant Huawei on Thursday for the second consecutive year provided 10 outstanding Bulgarian students with 1,000-U.S. dollar scholarships and two-week training sessions in China.

At the awards ceremony, Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva thanked Huawei for helping students with proven excellence.

"This is a shining example of the good friendly relations between Bulgaria and China," Tsacheva said in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Wei Jinghua.

Huawei initiated a worldwide program to discover local talents in the information and technology field in 2008.

A total of 67 countries, 150 universities and 1,700 students took part in the program, including 10 Bulgarian students, according to Liu Yang, managing director of Huawei Technologies Bulgaria. Endit
