UN secretary general expected to visit DR Congo

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) on Feb. 24, 2016 to attend the conference on private sector investments in the Great Lakes region.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Florence Marchal, the spokesperson for UN agencies during a media briefing by the UN Mission for Stabilization of Congo (MONUSCO) in Kinshasa.

The said conference to be held in Kinshasa between Feb. 24 to 25 will be organized by the representative of the UN secretary general in the Great Lakes Region and the executive office of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, with support from DR Congo government.

"Heads of governments as well as business leaders and development partners will participate in the meeting whose key objective is to attract investors in the region and create conditions for restoration of lasting peace," she said. Endit
