E China city closes three kindergartens for safety concerns

Xinhua, February 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three kindergartens in Wenzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province, have been closed over safety concerns, a local education authority said on Thursday.

The Duolaimi kindergarten, Qianxin kindergarten and Jintaiyang kindergarten, all located in the industrial district of Wenzhou, were closed on Tuesday.

The People's Court of Lucheng District ruled all three kindergartens, which are surrounded by factories or built on former factory sites, did not meet the national sanitary and safety standards for kindergartens, thus were potentially harmful to the children.

Each of the private kindergartens covered an area of more than 1,000 square meters and has over 150 students and about ten teachers.

The founders of the kindergartens were also given a warning by the court. Endi
