The Munich Security Conference (MSC) was named this year the "world's best think tank conference" for the third year running, according to a study of the American University of Pennsylvania.

"Our top spot in the rankings for the third time serves as a most welcome encouragement to my team," chairman of MSC Wolfgang Ischinger said in a statement released on Tuesday.

"We try to focus on key current and future challenges to global and regional security, and we are proud to contribute to conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and to strengthen the global security architecture," Ischinger added.

The study is based on an international survey of more than 4,700 scholars, public and private donors, journalists and policymakers from 143 countries and regions.

MSC is a global forum for the discussion of security policy. The 52nd MSC will be held from Feb.12 to 14 in Munich. The war in Syria, the refugee catastrophe, and the crisis of European security order are among key topics to be discussed. Endit
