Bremen have signed Serbia's Under-21 international Milos Veljkovic from Tottenham Hotspur, the Bundesliga team confirmed at the deadline day on Monday.

The defensive midfielder has inked a three-and-a-half-year deal, stipulated until June 2019, with the "Green-Whites".

"We have observed Milos for a long time and are now glad that we were able to sign him. This transfer is an investment for the future," Werder Bremen's sporting director Thomas Eichin told the club's official homepage.

Veljkovic wore Tottenham Hotspur's jersey since 2011 but spent most of the time on loan at other clubs. Bremen's new arrival is a versatile defensive player. He can play centre back as well as defensive midfielder. In the summer 2015 he won the FIFA U-20 World Cup with Serbia.

His new club sit currently on the 16th place, which is a relegation play off spot. They visit sixth placed Monchengladbach at the opener of the 20th round in Bundesliga on Feb. 5. Endit
