Senior CPC official visits cultural workers

Senior Chinese leader Liu Yunshan has visited cultural workers ahead of China's Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 8 this year and extended festival greetings to them.

On behalf of President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, on Saturday and Monday visited the homes of several cultural icons, including Jiang Liu, scholar on scientific socialism, poet He Jingzhi and Peking opera artist Tan Yuanshou

During his visits, Liu said promoting development in culture has been a key part in the country's drive of building a moderately prosperous society.

Liu called on cultural workers to continue upholding core socialist values and improving the quality of their works to boost innovation in the culture sector.

Liu also stressed the importance of fostering cultural talent, calling on Party and government to create a better environment for their studies and work.

Liu Qibao, head of the publicity department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the activity. Endi
