Chinese shares close lower Monday

China's stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.78 percent to 2,688.85 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index lost 1.02 percent to close at 9,322.01 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, declined 0.07 percent to close at 1,992.7 points. Endi
