Barca-Valencia, Sevilla-Celta in Spanish Cup semis

Xinhua, January 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Defending King's Cup holders FC Barcelona will face Valencia in the semi-finals of the Spanish knockout competition following the draw for the last four made in Madrid on Friday.

The other semi-final sees reigning Europa League holders, Sevilla take on Celta Vigo, who pulled off a surprise by eliminating Atletico Madrid in the last round.

The matches will be played over the next two weeks with the first leg played on February 3rd and the return a week later with the final to possibly be played on May 10th at a venue which has yet to be determined.

The tie against Barcelona will be a major challenge for Valencia's English coach, Gary Neville, whose first game in Spain was a 1-1 draw at home to Barca in the BBVA Primera Liga.

Barca coach Luis Enrique said, "(The tie would) obviously be complicated. There are no easy ties when you get to the semi-finals and anyone of the remaining three sides can complicate things for you."

The Barca coach used his appearance before Friday's press to insist once again that he believed that Brazilian striker Neymar would sign a new contract with the club despite rumors of possible interest from Real Madrid. Endit
