2 killed, 7 wounded in attack against Saudi Shiite mosque

Saudi Interior Ministry spokesperson announced Friday two persons were killed and seven injured in an attack against a Shiite mosque in Al Ahsa in the Eastern Province, Al Arabiya local news reported.

The police prevented a disaster from happening when they stopped two suicide bombers from entry Al Redha mosque while the worshipers were performing Friday prayer.

One of the two blew himself up to stop the police from arresting him. The second shot at the police and he was injured in a crossfire before he was arrested. The spokesperson said that an explosive belt was found on him.

According to eyewitnesses that one of the terrorists entered the mosque and shot at the worshipers.

The ministry will continue to investigate the case that is the first terrorist attack in the country in 2016.

Several similar attacks were registered last year, of which they were adopted by the Islamic State (IS) militant group. Endit
