Roundup: Singapore stocks end up 2.6 pct

Singapore shares closed 2.6 percent higher on Friday.

Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index jumped 66.66 points to 2,629.11 points. Trading volume was 1.16 billion shares worth 1.37 billion Singapore dollars. Advancers outnumbered decliners 298 to 173, while 522 stocks did not move.

Ascendas Hospitality Trust inched up 0.7 percent to 76 Singapore cents. It reported distribution per stapled security was 1.45 Singapore cents in the October-to-December quarter, compared with 1.30 Singapore cents in the same period of the previous year.

But its net property income fell 9.3 percent on-year to 23.4 million Singapore dollars and gross revenue fell 9.5 percent to 54.9 million Singapore dollars.

Frasers Hospitality Trust rose 2.1 percent to 73.5 Singapore cents. It reported distribution per stapled security was 1.72 Singapore cents in the three months to December quarter, compared with 1.60 Singapore cents in the same period the previous year.

Its net property income grew 16.9 percent to 26.3 million Singapore dollars, while gross revenue grew 16.2 percent to 31.4 million Singapore dollars.

Among top gainers, Jardine Matheson rose 2.6 percent to 52.5 U.S. dollars, while Riverstone became one of the top losers by falling 8.2 percent to 1.06 Singapore dollars. (1 U.S. dollar equals 1.42 Singapore dollars) Enditem
