Tyronn Lue named coach of East All-Stars

Xinhua, January 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Lue, who replaced David Blatt as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, will coach the Eastern Conference at next month's NBA All-Star Game.

"It's a tribute to Coach Blatt and the players and the hard work the assistant coaches put in to get us to this point," Lue said.

Lue is 2-1 after replacing Blatt, who was fired last Friday despite leading the Cavaliers lthe East best 30-11 record.

"It's going to be a great honor to represent the Cleveland Cavaliers and having a chance to do this. I know my coaches are excited, and I know it's going to be a surreal moment," Lue said.

The Spurs' Gregg Popovich will coach the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star Game as the Warriors' Steve Kerr is ineligible after coaching in the game last year. Enditem
