India's Defense ministry asks investigating agency to probe its two military officers

India's Defense Ministry on Thursday gave its nod for an inquiry into the disproportionate assets case against two serving top military officers, India's official broadcaster said.

The ministry has asked the country's premier investigating agency - Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to carry out the probe.

The inquiry has been ordered against Major General Ashok Kumar and Major General S S Lamba, who are accused of paying bribes for their promotions.

According to the All India Radio report, the Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar has asked the CBI to investigate all movable and immovable assets amassed by the two officers.
