Augsburg's Christoph Janker pens contract extension

Augsburg and the 30-year-old defender Christoph Janker have agreed on a contract extension ahead of schedule, the "Fuggerstaedter" announced in an official statement on Thursday.

Janker remains a "Fuggerstaedter" as he penned a contract extension to stay with the Bundesliga outfit until June 2017.

"I feel very well at Augsburg and I am delighted to remain part of this great team. Last year was amazing. Bundesliga and Europa League made a lot of fun and I want to help achieve the club's goals in the future," Janker said.

The defender joined Augsburg in January 2015 from Berlin to make five appearances ever since.

"Christoph is an experienced professional and an absolute team player, who always performs well when needed. He fits perfectly into the team's structure and we are pleased that we were able to bind him," Augsburg's sporting director Stefan Reuter said.

Augsburg sit currently on the 13th place and face 14th placed Frankfurt in the 19th round of Bundesliga on January 30. Endit
