A booby-trapped car exploded Thursday near the presidential palace in Yemen's temporary capital of Aden, killing nine soldiers and injuring several others, a security official told Xinhua.

"An explosive-laden car struck a military checkpoint near the outer gate of the Presidential Palace in Aden's neighborhood of Cirater, killing nine soldiers and injuring several others, " the local security source said on condition of anonymity.(Yemen-Blast)

ATHENS -- Twenty-four people, including ten children, died on Thursday off the shores of Samos island, according to the latest death toll announced by Greek authorities, after a boat carrying migrants from Turkey to Greece capsized.

Ten people have been rescued while an as yet unclear number of passengers were still missing, Greek Coast Guard officers said as the rescue operation was underway.(Greece-Boat Sinking)

BRASILIA -- Brazil is mobilizing 220,000 troops to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne zika virus, which can lead to birth defects, Defense Minister Aldo Rebelo said Wednesday.

Troops will be dispatched to states most affected by the disease following warnings by the country's health officials that Brazil was "losing the battle" against the mosquitos.(Brazil-Zika)

GAZA -- Seven members of al-Qassam Brigades, the Islamic Hamas movement's armed wing, were found dead Thursday in a tunnel which collapsed Tuesday in Gaza, the group said.

The seven lost contact with their commanders on Thursday when the tunnel collapsed due to heavy rainfall, Al-Qassam Brigades said.(Palestine-Tunnel-Deaths)

YAOUNDE -- Two suicide bombers died in twin attacks that were reported Thursday morning at a school in the northern Cameroon town of Kerawa, a local official said.
