Croatian opposition puts forward no confidence motion on minister

Xinhua, January 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Croatian opposition coalition on Thursday filed a motion to parliament for a confidence vote in War Veterans Affairs Minister Mijo Crnoja over a series of alleged wrongdoing.

The move came following Crnoja was accused of falsely reporting his residence place to avoid paying taxes and illegal gaining loan from the War Veterans' Ministry for building house, Croatian News Agency Hina reported.

Crnoja also was charged of taking part in a fight, over which a criminal complaint was filed and he was placed in custody in Zagreb's Remetinec prison, the report said.

The no-confidence motion was signed by 51 members of parliament from the coalition Croatia Is Growing, led by the main party Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other parties.

His behaviors were irreconcilable with the duties of a government minister, the signatories said, adding they proposed that parliament give a vote of no confidence in Crnoja. Endit
