Turkey on Wednesday captured 25 suspected Islamic State (IS) militants in two separate operations along its border with Syria, the Turkish General Staff said Thursday.
Border units detained 21 suspected IS members in the southeastern province of Kilis as the group, along with 22 children, tried to illegally enter Turkey from Syria, the General Staff said in a statement.
Also on Wednesday, authorities captured four others who were trying to enter Syria from Turkey and believed to have been set to join the IS.
Turkey has stepped up efforts against extremist militants following persistent criticism of what was described as slack control of the flow of jihadist fighters across its border with Syria. Endit
