German companies less willing to recruit in Jan.: Ifo

Xinhua, January 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

German companies are less willing to recruit in January, although they are still creating new jobs, the Ifo research institute reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the Ifo employment barometer index fell to 109.7 points in January from 110.5 points in the previous month.

The barometer in construction saw the sharpest downturn, and the barometer in manufacturing sector also dropped to its lowest level in over a year, the Munich-based think tank reported.

At the same time, wholesalers are still looking for additional employees. The main driver remained the service sector. "Yet even service providers proved somewhat less willing to recruit new staff this month."

Ifo is one of Europe's leading research institutes. Its business climate index is considered among the most important barometers for the German economy. Endit
