Iceland's CPI down 0.58 pct in January

Iceland's Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 0.58 percent as of the middle of January, according to the statistics issued on Thursday by Statistics Iceland.

The statistics showed the CPI in January was 428.3 points, down 0.58 percent compared with 430.8 points in middle of December.

Among factors influencing the CPI were prices of clothing and footwear that decreased by 13 percent, prices of furnishing, household equipment etc. that decreased by 9.3 percent, and prices of petrol and diesel oil that decreased by 3.3 percent.

Price statistics are based on price collection that takes place for at least one week in the middle of each month. Enditem
