Burkina Faso lifts nationwide curfew

Xinhua, January 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Burkina Faso has lifted a nationwide curfew declared after the Sept. 16, 2015 failed coup, says a government minister.

"The curfew has been lifted starting Jan. 25, 2016, but Burkina Faso president urges all citizens to remain vigilant," Communication Minister Remi Flugance Dandjinou writes on his Twitter handle.

The curfew, which had been imposed across the country after last year's coup attempt by ex-Presidential Security Regiment, was slightly eased until the Jan. 15 terrorist attacks that claimed 32 lives in Burkina Faso.

A ceremony bringing together thousands of people to remember victims of the terrorist attacks was held on Monday in capital Ouagadougou. Endit
