2 Palestinians shot dead in stabbing attack, 2 Israelis injured

Xinhua, January 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two Palestinians carried out a stabbing attack Monday evening in a West Bank Jewish settlement, and were shot dead after critically wounding a woman and moderately wounding another, officials said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said that according to an initial investigation, the assailants, apparently teens, arrived in the afternoon to a grocery store in Beit Horon, a settlement north of Jerusalem. They stabbed a woman, then attempted to flee the place, and on their way, stabbed another woman.

The suspects were shot dead by a security guard outside the store, said Samri.

Samri said that police forces found two explosive devices in later scanning at the scene.

The incident was the latest in a four-month-long Palestinian uprising, including stabbing, car-ramming, and shooting attacks, which claimed the lives of at least 150 Palestinians, 24 Israelis and one U.S. citizen.

Israel has been accusing the Palestinian National Authority of "inciting" the violence while the Palestinians say it is the result of 49 years of Israeli control of their lands. Endit
