A school in La Loche in northern Saskatchewan in west Canada said on Friday it was dealing with an emergency situation of school shooting and was asking people to stay away.
An official from the Northern Lights School Division talked about an "active shooter" in the school's Dene building but the casualty was still unknown so far, according CTV News.
Ken Ladouceur, the division's director of education, said he received a call from the principal of La Loche Community School shortly after 1 p.m. local time.
The community's fire chief also said a boy with a gun was in custody.
La Loche police said in a news release they were on the scene of a "serious incident" at the Dene high school, which is in lockdown, and which houses students from Grades 7 to 12.
Police also asked parents and residents to stay away because the situation was active and investigation was ongoing.
La Loche is a remote Dene community of about 3,000 people on the eastern shore of Lac La Loche in the northern forest area. Endit
