German police raided a refugee shelter in Germany's western city of Recklinghausen on Friday in the ongoing investigation into the case of the Islamic State sympathizer who was shot dead in Paris, German media reported.
According to German media WDR, far more than 100 police officers were deployed to check the papers of all residents on Friday morning.
A police spokesman was quoted as saying: "We want to make sure that the only people staying there are those who are also registered there."
As German media Bild reported in the afternoon, nine men were provisionally arrested after the raid, while three among them are suspected of illegally residing in Germany, and one person will be brought before a magistrate.
The Paris assailant had lived in a shelter for asylum seekers in Recklinghausen and used at least seven identities in Germany, German police announced earlier.
Police in northern Paris shot dead a man armed with a knife who was trying to enter the police station in the French capital, an event which coincided with the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Endit
