The United States is "deeply troubled" by the findings of the British government's inquiry into the death of Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian spy, the State Department said Thursday.

Litvinenko was "deliberately poisoned" and his murder was "probably approved" by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the report of a British public inquiry released Thursday. (U.S.-Russian spy death)

MOGADISHU -- At least five people were killed, seven others injured, in suicide attacks at a restaurant located at the Liddo Beach in Mogadishu, Somalia, local police confirmed.

Police officer Ahmed Qalinle told Xinhua Thursday night that they had established the number of casualties, but were expecting a possible increase as the battle between Somalia's Special Forces and Al-shabaab militants is still going on. (Somalia-Attacks)

CAIRO -- A blast killed 10 people, including seven policemen Thursday evening as security forces raided a terrorist hideout in Egypt's Giza province near the capital Cairo, Egypt's state-run Ahram online reported.

The blast occurred when policemen attempted to defuse a bomb that was found at an apartment used as a hideout by a terrorist group in Giza's Mariotya district. (Egypt-Blast)

NAIROBI -- Kenya's military said Thursday its soldiers who are pursuing Islamist militants after last week's attack in southern Somalia have killed the militants' senior commander.
