China and Australia knocked out of AFC U23 Championship quarterfinal

Xinhua, January 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Sixteen teams started their journey towards continental glory in Qatar, but only eight now remain ahead of this week's eagerly anticipated quarter-finals.

China lost all three games and ranked forth in Group A. The championship is also a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Therefore the Chinese U23 national team once again failed to win a berth in the Olympics.

On Wednesday Australia was forced to a 0-0 draw by Jordan, earning four points from three games to rank third in Group D and missed the chance to play in Rio Olympics.

In quarterfinals, Japan will play Iran; Qatar will compete with DPR Korea.; South Korea will play Jordan and the United Arab Emirates will challenge Iraq. Endit
