Ukrainian PM pushes for expanded sanction list against Russians

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk on Wednesday urged his cabinet to add more Russian companies and individuals to Kiev's sanction list over their alleged role in Ukraine's crisis.

"We should submit proposals to the National Security and Defense Council on the expanding of the list of individuals and legal entities, which fall under the sanctions," Yatsenyuk told a cabinet meeting.

In particular, the new restrictive measures should target Russian businessmen in Ukraine who support the "anti-Ukrainian political forces," Yatsenyuk said.

Last September, Kiev has imposed economic sanctions on 388 Russian individuals and 105 companies for their alleged assistance to insurgents in eastern regions. The measures will be in place for 12 months.

Kiev has repeatedly blamed Moscow for inciting the conflict in Lugansk and Donetsk regions, where rebels are demanding independence. Russia, however, has denied the charges, saying the accusations are groundless. Endit
