Shanghai 2015 GDP grows 6.9 pct

Shanghai's GDP grew at the same pace as the country with economic growth of 6.9 percent recorded in 2015, the local statistics bureau announced Wednesday.

According to preliminary calculations, Shanghai's GDP stood at about 2.5 trillion yuan (380.6 billion U.S. dollars) in 2015, Tang Huihao, chief economist of the municipal bureau of statistics, said at a press conference.

Shanghai recorded stable economic growth and an improved economic structure in 2015, said Tang.

The financial industry, information communication technology and real estate sectors contributed to growth, with year-on-year increases of 23 percent, 12 percent and 9 percent respectively, according to Tang.

Yet revenues from electronics, automobiles and quality steel manufacturing dropped by 1.8 percent, 2.3 percent and 7.6 percent respectively, he said.

The per capita disposable income for Shanghai residents stood at 49,867 yuan in 2015, up 8.5 percent year on year. Enditem
