In an interview with Die Welt newspaper Germany's coach Joachim Loew criticised former Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz on Tuesday.
It looks like Grosskreutz's days in the German national dress are numbered. The former Dortmund player, who spent half a year at Galatasaray without making one game due to a formal error during the transfer, has been heavily criticised by Loew.
According to the Germany coach, Grosskreutz is currently not an option for the national team, as "he has not played for half a year." Loew has been other than pleased with Grosskreutz conduct in the last months. The 27-year-old right back spent the last sixth months with Turkish outfit Galatasaray but only during the workdays, as Loew found out.
"I was in Istanbul and met with Galatsaray's coach Mustafa Denizli and he told me that Kevin flew home almost every weekend, from Friday to Sunday. You don't do that kind of things if you want to be part of a team," Loew told Die Welt.
Although it was Galatasaray's mistake that Grosskreutz was suspended by the FIFA due to a formal error until January 2016, Loew added: "I have only limited sympathy how he dealt with his career."
After his short and unlucky spell at Galatasaray, where Grosskreutz asked for the cancellation of his contract recently, he returned into the Bundesliga after joining Stuttgart. The former Dortmund defender was part of Germany's World Cup lifting squad in 2014. He did however not make an appearance in the tournament. Endit
