Inaugural Singapore, China digital economy forum held in Singapore

Inaugural China-Singapore Digital Economy Forum was held here Tuesday, with participation of hundreds of experts and business leaders from the two countries.
The forum, aimed at boosting Singapore- China partnership in the new digital space, was hosted by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, in collaboration with Singapore's Ministry for Trade and Industry (MTI), and the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).
The forum were graced by Vice Minister of CAC Ren Xianliang and Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry S Iswaran.
In a speech delivered at the forum, Ren said that enhancing cooperation in digital economy between China and Singapore meets the needs of the two countries as they both face challenges of economic restructuring.
Ren proposed that the two countries step up cooperation by increasing mutual investment, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, expanding platforms and channels for exchanges and cooperation.
S Iswaran said that China has been at the forefront in digital economy, while Singapore is well-positioned to serve as a center for digital businesses in ASEAN and larger Asia region,
The minister said that he is optimistic about the significant potential for Chinese and Singaporean enterprises to collaborate for mutual benefit in the growing digital economy of ASEAN.
In two plenary sessions, experts and business leaders exchanged views under the topics of "Opportunities in the new digital economy" and "Singapore-China collaboration in the digital era."
They also participated in closed-door round tables on various topics, namely, smart cities, e-commerce, online travel, online media and online education and Internet of Things. Endit
