China's Sichuan Airlines launched direct flights on Tuesday to link Osaka, western Japan and Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province in southwestern China.

According to Sichuan Airlines, the round-trip flights are operated three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with A330 aircraft. The airliner also launched direct flights between Tokyo and Chengdu a day earlier.

"The flights will make traveling between southwestern China and Japan more convenient," said Zhang Weijie, director of western Japan business of Sichuan Airlines.

Based at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Sichuan Airlines has a fleet of 106 Airbus aircraft, and has opened over 200 flights in China and abroad. Endit
