Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday went down slightly by 0.25 percent and closed at 9,521.85 points.

The sport company adidas gained markedly by 6.25 percent. Infineon Technologies, a semiconductor producer, advanced by 2.73 percent. The utilities company RWE climbed 0.83 percent. Merck, a pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, rose by 0.82 percent. SAP went up by 0.76 percent.

Henkel, which operates in three business areas including laundry and home care, beauty care and adhesive technologies, declined by 4.11 percent. Deutsche Bank slipped by 3.28 percent. Commerzbank plunged by 1.99 percent. K+S Group, a supplier of standard and specialty fertilizers, slid by 1.88 percent. BASF fell by 1.65 percent.

Adidas was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 370.74 million euros (around 403.71 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
