Pakistan PM to visit Saudi Arabia, Iran

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia and Iran next week to help ease tension between the two Muslim nations.

On the first leg of the two-day visit, they would reach in Riyadh on Monday where they will meet Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on a peaceful solution to problems between the kingdom and Iran, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Saturday.

The Pakistani leaders will proceed to Tehran on Tuesday to meet Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, the minister told the media.

Pakistan enjoys good relations with both Saudi Arabia and Iran and political leaders and parliamentarians had urged the government to help reduce tensions between the two nations.

Saudi Arabia severed its diplomatic relations with Iran after angry Iranians stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran over Riyadh's execution of a prominent Shiite cleric earlier this month. Enditem
