Midnight explosion rocks Christian neighborhood in central Syria

An explosion rocked a predominantly-Christian neighborhood in Syria's central city of Homs at late time Friday, leaving unknown losses, a monitor group reported.
The blast was caused by a booby-trapped vehicle, which tore through the al-Arman neighborhood in central Homs, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based watchdog group tracking the Syrian conflict.
The Observatory said information was not immediately available about the losses.
While the Observatory said the blast was "violent," the Local Coordination Committees (LCC), another activist group, said the blast in al-Arman was caused by an explosive device, which reportedly was affixed under a vehicle in that government-loyal district of Homs.
Meanwhile, pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported the explosion, saying a an explosive-laden car ripped through the district, stopping short of giving further details as the blast took place late in the night.
Further details about the midnight blast are still forthcoming.
Al-Arman has seen several explosions during Syria's nearly five-year-old conflict.
The occurrence of the blast comes less than a month since the last rebel fighter left the al-Waer neighborhood, which was the last rebel stronghold inside the city of Homs, making the city rebel-free. Enditem.
