Armed men take hostages in Burkina Faso hotel, several feared dead: media

Armed men suspected to be Islamist fighters took hostages after attacking a hotel here in the capital of Burkina Faso late on Friday, several people near the hotel were feared dead, according to media reports.

An official with the national gendarmes who wanted to remain anonymous was quoted earlier as saying that they were trying to know how many attackers were there to "better coordinate our actions."

The security forces were fighting fighters outside the Splendid Hotel in the business area of the city, after gunmen attacked the hotel.

Al Qaeda of Islamic Maghred has just claimed responsibility for the incident, report reaching here said. Enditem
