Beijing condemns terror attacks in Jakarta

Xinhua, January 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

China condemned the fatal terror attacks in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and is ready to work with the international community including the Southeast Asian nation on counterterrorism, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Friday.

China firmly opposed all acts of terror against innocent civilians, spokesperson Hong Lei said at a routine press briefing, adding that terrorism was the common enemy of all mankind.

"China is willing to work with the international community, including Indonesia, to jointly combat terrorism and safeguard international and regional peace and stability," Hong said.

Explosions and gun fire took place in downtown Jakarta on Thursday, killing seven people and injuring 20 others. Indonesian police say the attacks could be linked to terror group Islamic State. Endi
