Wolfsburg's Bas Dost sidelined with foot injury

Xinhua, January 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Dutchman Bas Dost suffered a metatarsal fracture in the trainings camp, the "Wolves" said in an official statement on Wednesday.

The Dutch striker suffered the injury in his left foot following a tackle during a trainings session in Lagos, Portugal.

"We currently assume that Bas needs a surgery," Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club's official homepage.

Wolfsburg top striker is on his way back to Germany to undergo another medical examination. If a surgery is needed the striker will be out of action for "at least six weeks".

Dost's injury may force the Wolfsburg bosses to look for other options on the transfer market, as they have only two remaining strikers with Max Kruse, who scored five goals so far, and Niklas Bendtner, who is heavily linked with Premier League clubs in the last days.

The seventh placed "Wolves" see struggling Frankfurt for the 18th round in Bundesliga on Jan. 24. Enditem
