Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on its Consulate General in Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan earlier in the day.

"We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jalalabad this morning," said a foreign ministry statement.

The government of Afghanistan has been requested to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the culprits to book, said the statement, adding that the Pakistani side has requested details of the investigation.

According to the statement, only one official of the Consulate General was slightly injured by broken glasses in the attack.

The government of Afghanistan has also been requested to ensure safety and security of Pakistan Missions in Afghanistan and Pakistani officials working in Afghanistan, it said.

At least seven people, including four police personnel, were killed when three gunmen launched an attack on the Pakistani consulate in eastern Afghan town of Jalalabad on Wednesday morning, said reports.
